A warning to all my wacky stoned readers:
People primarily ask about the legal risks of past use because they want to be able to talk or write about their experiences. When describing past illegal acts, mentioning specifics about timing and location increases risk of prosecution. If the statute of limitations has not run out, it is possible that a judge could grant a search warrant?or in extreme cases, an arrest warrant?based on specific details of past use. In some areas, a positive drug test is treated as evidence of a crime.
[…]
Violations that have happened within the statute-limited period can be prosecuted if there is enough evidence. Simply talking about past use, by itself, is very unlikely to be considered proof of a crime, which means the authorities would need to have additional evidence to prove their case (or even get an arrest warrant). It is important to note, however, that out-of-court documented admissions of law violations can be strong evidence if a trial does take place.
[…]
Suggestion or evidence of past illegal substance use could pose a problem even if there is not enough evidence to support criminal charges. A few scenarios where this could be an issue are: in a fight for custody of children, if a parent?s past use is brought to the attention of child protective services, and in the workplace, where the mere suggestion of drug use could lead to the loss of one?s job or professional license.

Am I insane? I could SWEAR that there was a section of Jorn Barger’s historical Jesus FAQ that said that Jesus probably never existed. But now I can find no such thing, even in old archive.org versions. Anyone else read it and remember seeing a section about it? One of the primary arguments was that the Romans, who kept detailed records of all crucifixions, had no record of him being crucified.
there’s another reference on the topic here, I just skimmed it and didn’t see a reference to the lack of a crucifixion record.
(Of course, if the Jews crucified him, not the Romans, the Romans may not have kept a record of it, though it doesn’t seem likely to me. And just because he wasn’t cruficied doesn’t mean he didn’t exist.)
Great comment on on the magickal hip hop thread on Key 23 considering freestyling as channeling of the other:
this is where you don’t even realize you’re freestyling anymore. we?ve noticed that without fail, the best rhymes we’ve ever committed to minidisc, we have no memory of doing. this is where you?re channeling from the cosmos and really humping the Logos good.

I think that language itself is beginning to communicate with us. I look forward to understanding what the hell it?s talking about.
Fanboy Rampage is a comics satire column I stumbled across today while searching for a reference to Grant Morrison’s comments about Dr. Octagon for this Key 23 thread.
(fake) Grant Morrison interview:
Grant Morrison: Oh, yes. I find with New X-Men, the more quickly I write them, the better they turn out. I had gotten to the point where I was writing an issue a day, but that really wasn’t turning out satisfactorily. Now, I’m producing an issue every forty-five minutes or so.
Paul Gravett: An entire issue. How can you do such a thing?
Grant Morrison: Magic. Literally.
Paul Gravett: Yes, well, I’ve been meaning to ask about that, since you’ve made your stance on magic well-known. What sort of magic are you talking about, exactly?
Grant Morrison: Well, the term “magic” encompasses many different specialties and disciplines, and –
Paul Gravett: No, I mean, when you say “I’m producing an issue of New X-Men every forty-five minutes because of magic,” what do you mean by magic, in that exact context?
Grant Morrison: In that context?
Paul Gravett: Yes.
Pause.
Grant Morrison: Red Bull and crystal meth.
It gets better.
Upcoming exploitative Alan Moore items:
Alan Moore’s Letters to Penthouse Forum, Vols. I-IV: Don’t be fooled. These four volumes from Blood Money Press, enclosed in a lovely slipcase, actually detail only one letter, despite the title. Running a total of two hundred pages per volume, this letter comprises a sexual encounter between Alan Moore, two women, and a coatrack in West End. Volume I, for example, is a complete psycho-geographical and mythico-historical study of West End where the encounter happened, and apparently the digression on the evolution of coatracks (in Volume III) is a red-hot page-turner. There’s also an extensive endnotes section by the editors, contrasting, say, the original opening to the letter (“Dear Penthouse Forum: I recently ejaculated upon the face of History, allowing the orgasmic unfettering of shackled feminine mystery, and in many ways not only is Superman to blame, but Beano and a lecherously inclined coatrack as well.”) with one revised with an eye to publication (“Dear Penthouse Forum: I’ve always been a big fan of your letters but thought they were more than likely made up. However, something just happened to me that I just had to write to you about, and besides what is all of human history but a mutually agreed fictional construct, anyway? If it gets me and a very naughty coatrack a bit of action, who’s to say the world’s worse for it?”). No illustrations, but unless you’re as much a furniture fancier as Mr. Moore, that may be for the best. Four books in slipcase, five hundred dollars for all. Yikes.
When I was in New York my friend Terence asked me if I liked the Magnetic Fields. He was talking about the band, but square as I am I thought he was talking about, y’know, the scientific thingies.
I guess Metachor is interested in the magnetic fields, because he’s linking to some really interesting articles. I’ve always wondered about the role of electromagnetic fields in paranormal phenomenon.

Way to go Officer Barbrady!
Local school officials in a suburb of Houston, Texas, are investigating how it was possible that a school police officer handed out calendars to students that featured explicit details on satanic and sexual rituals for every day of the month.

Yesterday’s post on Shpongle and a random encounter with a bio of Danny Carey have me thinking about my other favorite “occult” related band: Tool.
Despite not becoming a Mason or aligning himself with any other school of religion, Danny has maintained his heritages interest in occult studies. Endeavors into this realm have manifested periodically, such as the time he achieved insight into a hidden aspect of the unicursal hexagram utilizing an astral journey initiated through meditation and DMT. Danny then set up his drums into proportions utilizing the circle and square of the New Jerusalem and uttered a short prayer relating to the principles of the ace of swords from the book of Thoth. He then performed a ritual utilizing his new found knowledge of the unicursal hexagram to generate a pattern of movement in space relating to Fuller’s vector equilibrium model. The resulting rhythm and gateway summoned a daemon he has contained within “the Lodge” that has been delivering short parables similar to passages within the Book of Lies. Danny recommends as a device of protection and containment a thorough study and utilization of the underlying geometry of the Temple of Solomon for anyone purchasing their next record.
I’ve been meaning to read the Tool newsletters for some time now.
Oh, and poke around for info on some of Carey’s other projects.
