Haven’t read any of this yet:

The Maybe Logic Academy has published the first issue of its new online publication. It features art, poetry, interviews, and articles. It’s big. Oh, and there’s some poetry in there by blogging genius Metachor.

No, not Infected Mushroom album covers. This is an article about artists like Austin Osman Spare, Rosaleen Norton, and Victor Angel.

Doubt cast on theory that magnetic fields spark religious feelings
Dali Lama holds conference on neuroscience
It was the 12th time since 1987 that the Dalai Lama has convened leading psychologists and neurobiologists to hear the latest scientific thinking in fields related to the human mind. These meetings are organized by the Mind & Life Institute in Louisville, Colorado, which was established in the 1980s to promote communication between science and Buddhism. But much of the credit for this open communication goes to the Dalai Lama himself.

Metachor’s expanded his map from yesterday to include electromagnetic theory. Intriguing.

A warning to all my wacky stoned readers:
People primarily ask about the legal risks of past use because they want to be able to talk or write about their experiences. When describing past illegal acts, mentioning specifics about timing and location increases risk of prosecution. If the statute of limitations has not run out, it is possible that a judge could grant a search warrant?or in extreme cases, an arrest warrant?based on specific details of past use. In some areas, a positive drug test is treated as evidence of a crime.
[…]
Violations that have happened within the statute-limited period can be prosecuted if there is enough evidence. Simply talking about past use, by itself, is very unlikely to be considered proof of a crime, which means the authorities would need to have additional evidence to prove their case (or even get an arrest warrant). It is important to note, however, that out-of-court documented admissions of law violations can be strong evidence if a trial does take place.
[…]
Suggestion or evidence of past illegal substance use could pose a problem even if there is not enough evidence to support criminal charges. A few scenarios where this could be an issue are: in a fight for custody of children, if a parent?s past use is brought to the attention of child protective services, and in the workplace, where the mere suggestion of drug use could lead to the loss of one?s job or professional license.

Am I insane? I could SWEAR that there was a section of Jorn Barger’s historical Jesus FAQ that said that Jesus probably never existed. But now I can find no such thing, even in old archive.org versions. Anyone else read it and remember seeing a section about it? One of the primary arguments was that the Romans, who kept detailed records of all crucifixions, had no record of him being crucified.
there’s another reference on the topic here, I just skimmed it and didn’t see a reference to the lack of a crucifixion record.
(Of course, if the Jews crucified him, not the Romans, the Romans may not have kept a record of it, though it doesn’t seem likely to me. And just because he wasn’t cruficied doesn’t mean he didn’t exist.)
Great comment on on the magickal hip hop thread on Key 23 considering freestyling as channeling of the other:
this is where you don’t even realize you’re freestyling anymore. we?ve noticed that without fail, the best rhymes we’ve ever committed to minidisc, we have no memory of doing. this is where you?re channeling from the cosmos and really humping the Logos good.

I think that language itself is beginning to communicate with us. I look forward to understanding what the hell it?s talking about.
