I like this statement from the Council on American-Islamic Relations much better than Obama's wait and see statement... “We condemn this cowardly attack in the strongest terms possible and ask that the perpetrators be punished to the full extent of the law. No religious or political ideology could ever justify or excuse such wanton and indiscriminate violence. The attack was particularly heinous in that it targeted the all-volunteer army that protects our nation. American Muslims stand with our fellow citizens in offering both prayers for the victims and sincere condolences to the families of those killed or injured.” Hasan's motivation is being a Muslim. It may be relevant in regards to figuring out Hasan’s motivation, but who sends Obama unsolicited advice is not relevant as to Obama’s character and judgment.

Is it a lie that “Hasan attended a meeting of a private organization that gave the transition some unsolicited advice” or is it true but irrelevant?

Obama made his comments about Gates, a personal friend of his, 6 days after the incident and after all parties had had their say and the charges against Gates had already been dropped, and included caveats about being biased and not having been there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Louis_Gates_arrest_controversy (Event occurred July 16th, charges were dropped July 21, Obama commented on July 22)

Obama (himself also sometimes accused of being a Muslim) made the comments about Hasan the day after numerous falsehoods were reported (for example: that there were 3 shooters, and that Hasan was dead – http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/glenn_greenwald/2009/11/06/reporting/index.html)

You tell me: is this a fair comparison?

Obama after Muslim fanatic Nidal Malik Hasan went on a shooting rampage at Fort Hood while shouting “Allahu Akbar“: “We don’t know all the answers yet, and I would caution against jumping to conclusions until we have all the facts.”
