Jesse Galef writes:
Yesterday, Andrew Sullivan put up a post about an extremely brutal hate-crime attack on an openly gay man. The 2-minute news report he embeds is depressing, but there was something to laugh about at the end. The studio interviewed one of the attackers’ friends, who proudly displayed this tattoo.
It’s a tattoo reading “[Thou] shall not lie with a male as one does with a woman. It is an abomination. Leviticus 18:22?. Who else sees the problem here?
Leviticus also forbids tattooing. In the very next chapter.
“Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD. Leviticus 19:28?

Closet gays are funny funny people sometimes, they are the most homophobic of the yayhoos….

I refer this bloke to Lev 19:28: And ye shall not make cuttings in your body for a dead body, and ye shall not inscribe on yourselves any marks.
I do believe the biblical punishment for getting a tattoo is death.

Leviticus 19:28 (New King James Version)
” You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the LORD.”

Bet you that guy is gay.

Way too many idiots on this planet.

Last time i checked, near the end of the bible, god says that he loves everyone equally. this dude is just a piece of trash

No sin is greater than the next. It’s wrong to have tattoos and its wrong to be gay. All sin is the same sin in our Lord’s eyes. People should grow up and pray for their own wrong doing and pray for ur fellow man.

Joke on him. God doesn’t even exist.

“A Man Wit Sense”, you should pray for your spelling.

If he ignored one verse to get a tattoo, he probably ignored the other one too and had butt sex with his buddy.

I’m assuming a man wit sense is trolling, as leviticus states many many more sins that I am sure the little trolly has committed.
For example:
Don’t eat leftovers.
Eat all of the animal the day it is slaughtered (no fast food for you!)
Do not eat the fat of the animal.
Do not drink wine in church.
Don’t eat shellfish.
A woman who has given birth is unclean for 7 days.
After a woman gives birth, a priest must kill a lamb, pigeon, or dove as a sin offering.
No masturbation.
Women who are menstruating shall be cast out for 7 days and no man shall lie with her.
Speaking out against your parents is punishable by death.
God does not love everyone. In fact, he abhors some.
and the absurdities go on. If A man wit(out) sense IS NOT trolling, I’m sure he only obeys the parts of the bible that he sees fit. I’m sure he would stop a blind man from approaching the altar, right?

The biblical punishment for self-marking is slow dancing with John Stamos, lots of eye contact.
February 18, 2011 at 12:33 pm
Or, we could read the Bible as fiction, the way it meant to be read.

The apparent proscription against tatoos is almost certainly a translation error. http://www.vanishingtattoo.com/tattoos_culture_leviticus.htm
Not that it matters. Trying to turn some ancient tribe’s laws into universal laws of nature is crap no matter how well translated.

Wow, he’s going to hell:
Leviticus 19:28 (New King James Version)
” You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the LORD.”

People should grow up and stop believing a fairy tale for moral guidance.
February 18, 2011 at 1:14 pm
@A Man Wit Sense
I hope you haven’t cut your hair, worn polyester, worked on Saturday, eaten a cheeseburger, shellfish, or pork. Those are all sinful, too, right? Selling your own kid into slavery? Oh, that’s fine. People should grow up and think for themselves and not assume that something written in down 2,500 years ago by people (who didn’t understand the heliocentric orbit of earth among many other things) is true. Growing up would mean getting with the times, or at least the last few centuries.

Just another moron taking that one verse of Leviticus completely out of context – as do most Christians – to either justify his hatred or hide his own homosexuality. People need to read all of the verses that come before and follow that one to realize this is addressing the Romans of that specific era. You know it’s an abomination to eat shellfish and to wear clothing made of different materials, right? Not knowing about the tattoo verse just reinforces this guy’s stupidity.
