I first came across Witkin’s work years ago via the Process mailing list. I was just reminded of his work today while discussing NIN’s “Closer” video. Amazing stuff.

Amazing! An interesting solution to maintaining compatible texture in collage. I’ve always used 19th century engravings because there is a suply of public domain images and they can be combined without jarring discontinuity. I now realize that there is a sepia world out there for the taking.
