Thoughts after the caucus

Things that surprised me:

Richardson beat Biden.

Richardson and Biden both did worse than I expected.

Thompson beat McCain and Paul.

The good:

Obama won.

Biden, the most “establishment” of the dems, is out of the race. He’s better off in the senate right now pushing his Iraq plan through.

Dodd is back to the senate full time.

Huck showed you can’t just buy a caucus.

Edwards edging out Hillary shows that there’s considerable anti-Hillary sentiment.

Bad:

In some ways I’m rooting for Giuliani because a win for him would be such a blow to cultural conservatives.

Will miss having Dodd in the race.

Edwards 2nd place showing will give him traction, continuing to split the anti-Hillary vote. (But there might be enough Hill-hate to go around.)

Huck is a corrupt theocrat.
