Pop Image Grant Morrison Interview
There’s a new interview with Grant Morrison over at Pop Image (which is a pretty cool comic book site BTW, with online comics by Warren Ellis, Bendis, and others).
You can also check out Morrison’s New X-Men at Newsarama. Morrison will be bringing technocculture to the world’s most popular comic series. There are also a lot of comments from him and his fellow X crew and previews to Peter Milligan and Mike Allred’s new X-Force.
The Museum of Jurassic Technology
What is the Museum of Jurrassic Technology? The official answer is “an educational institution dedicated to the advancement of knowledge and the public appreciation of the Lower Jurassic.”
What does this include? Some of the weirdest mind-fucking exhibits you’ll find. Ants with fungus growing out of their heads? Horned bats preseved in lead?
The founder, David Wilson, has taken Borgesian fantasy and made an impressive material world of it (assuming the museum actually exists… I’ve talked to people who claim to have family members who have visited, but I’ve had no direct contact with anyone who’s actually been there). Is it science? Is it performance art? Both?
Also check out Lawrence Weschler’s book on the subject, Mr. Wilson’s Cabinet of Wonder.
Things you never thought you’d see in real life
Would you like to buy a working hoverboard, or the plans for a jet pack? Well, Future Horizons is selling that and more. Their products range from plans to fully constructed devices in areas including alternative fuels, anti-gravity, time travel, psionics, lucid dreaming, and much more.
Freenet: the Future of File Transfer?
Last week the hackers working on The Freenet Project corrected the Windows installer.. so now anyone with Windows and Java should be able to use it. For those who don’t know, Freenet is a decentralised information storage and retrieval system. It works by chaching and mirroring content and allows people to distribute data without fear of censorship. Currently in the works are a Freenet based e-mail program, a music sharing program, and the system can be used to serve web sites.
Mad Science: Spider Goats
I first heard about these weird things when Warren Ellis mentioned them in his column a while back. Anyway, check out this ABC News and then pass it around to all your friends.
